You may notice different Wi-Fi networks on campus depending on your location. "¸£Àû¼§" and "¸£Àû¼§1x" are for students & staff/faculty, while "¸£Àû¼§ Guest" and "¸£Àû¼§Xenia" are for guests.

"¸£Àû¼§" and "¸£Àû¼§1x"

These are the preferred and secure wireless networks to use. You can connect to these networks using your ¸£Àû¼§ username and password (Kerberos credentials). Windows and Android users will need to follow extra steps to connect.

Getting Smart Devices Online

"¸£Àû¼§ Guest" and "¸£Àû¼§Xenia" are our open networks for guests and visitors. Ideally, these networks shouldn't be your primary connection. However, some smart devices and gaming consoles can only connect to our network via these open networks.

Contact the CUS Help Desk to register your wireless device on the network, or visit  to register ethernet devices.

Your ¸£Àû¼§ Kerberos account is essential for internet access, class assignments, dining orders, IRIS, Student Health Portal, and email.

If you ever need help logging into your account, using Duo, or any other issues, you can visit the CUS Help Desk located on the first floor of the ETC. You can also visit /it/help/kerberos.html.

Duo Verified Push

Duo is ¸£Àû¼§'s required two-step authentication service. We recommend using the app on your mobile phone, as opposed to TouchID or a text message, to reduce the risk of account compromise. After signing into a service (like IRIS with your ¸£Àû¼§ username or password, you are then prompted to enter a 3-digit passcode to confirm that you're trying to sign in.

Hardware Tokens

If you don't have a mobile phone, visit the help desk to set up a hardware token. A hardware token is a small device - requiring no network connectivity of any kind - that can be attached to your keychain or slipped into your bag. It generates one-time passcodes on demand, which can be used as your second step during authentication. 

Software and Online Resources

Visit reed.edu/it/help/software to access academic software you can install on your personal computer or view through the Virtual Computer Lab.

Google Drive

Students have 100gb of Google Drive storage at drive.reed.edu.

Moodle

Course materials and assignments are available at moodle.reed.edu.

Getting Equipment

Educational discounts are available on Apple products through . Laptops, iPads, and other equipment may be borrowed from the for short-term use. 

Students in need can apply to use a laptop for the academic year through the Student Technology Equipment Program.

Printing & Copying

Printers and Copiers are available in many academic buildings. To use ¸£Àû¼§ printers, follow our printing setup instructions for students. Color prints cost $0.30/side, B&W prints cost $0.05/side. First year students have a $25 printing allotment for the whole year.

CUS will NEVER ask for your password! NEVER email anyone your password!

A strong password is important! A long password is more effective than one that uses lots of symbols. Bad password: p4$$WorD? Good password: chrome-baseball-parakeet-soup. Use a different password for every account! You can use a password manager like Bitwarden so that you don't have to remember each password. You can change your ¸£Àû¼§ password at .

Use of copyrighted text, video, music, or anything else without permission violates ¸£Àû¼§'s computer agreement and federal law; it may result in suspension of computer privileges and/or legal action.

We recommend new students add all personal contact info (cell phone, other email address) to ¸£Àû¼§'s emergency alert system: /emergency-alert.

Do not click links or download attachments from any unknown senders! Report all phishing or suspicious emails to cybersecurity@reed.edu. If in doubt, contact CUS before you reply to an email or click on a suspicious link.
